**PLEASE CROSSPOST**

Transport: VA to CA 4/15-4-20

Hi all,

My name is Cynthia and I volunteer at a local domestic abuse shelter for women. Last week a young woman and her dog of 8 yrs were literally thrown from a truck. The woman is now on her way back to her home in CA. The dog is in my care and I'm hoping to be able to put together a transport to get her back home. The woman does not have the $ to fly her home. I've never put together a transport before so please bear w/ me.

Passenger-Nala is an 8 year old, brindle boxer mix. She is a very sweet indoor dog w/ great manners. She is healthy, spayed and UTD and weighs about 50#. She does not get along w/ female dogs. She will be traveling w/ leash and collar, food, water and 2 bowls.

Talking Do you know?

Cynthia,

Do you know how much the flight would be to get Nala from where she is now to her mom in California? If she has a crate to travel in that is approved for domestic air travel then it would really be the cost of the flight. I know American Airlines may only be about $150.00. The only reason I know is because I just looked for my boxer Jade when we will travel to relocate to Wales in the United Kingdom. If you let me know the closest major airport to you and also the one to Nala's mom I could find out the price. I work in the Export Logistic's business and have a contact at American Airlines cargo here in Chicago. If the price is under $200.00 I would be happy to reunite Nala with her mom and if anyone can make a donation that would be great as well. I only have access to this site when at work and I'm here until 4 p.m. central standard time. Otherwise please call me at home or on my cell phone ( I will send you a PM with that info ). I would want someone to do this for me if Jade and I had be seperated under such dire circumstances.

Thumbs up Nalla

AS a first timer you can well imagine how overwhelmed I was at the response to help Nalla. Through the generosity of Kim, Bev and Gloria she is being flown back to her Mom so big big thank you's to those ladies, but I also have to thank the genoristy of those who were willing to help drive as well as those who helped me with the original posting, Kristin, who worked tirelessly with me to get this organized, my husband who were my eyes for me, Josh who offered to be of whatever help he could, Jackie and Linda who pointed out my mistakes to me, a thousand thank you's. The drivers, Amanda, Chris, Bev and Shirley, and the offers to help with fostering Kate and Fara. YOu all have blown me away with your kindness, and reduced me to tears with your generosity. There will never be enough ways to say thank you.

I look forward to working with you all again sometime, it was truly an honor.

I am so happy that this baby gets to go home to her mommy. I know how I would feel if either of mine were apart from me. It does an old heart good to be involved in something like this and it is my pleasure.
