Going to the Outer Banks Beach

I am planning on taking my two boxers to the Outer Banks, NC for a week. Has anyone ever taken their dogs there or too any other beach that has some tips or cautions for us.

We have taken Lacy to the Outer Banks many times. We usually stay in Salvo, where there aren't a lot of people on the beach even in the middle of summer. Lacy loves the beach, and romps through the waves and digs big holes in the sand. In the summer, we limit her time on the beach to morning and late afternoon since the sand and sun are way too hot in the middle of the day. Even though we don't allow Lacy to drink the salt water, she does end up ingesting some while she plays in the waves, and this always causes major stomach issues for a day or two, so be prepared for some hurried trips out to the yard for bathroom breaks!

Outer Banks

We took our boxer and her lhasa brother to Ocrakoke and Cape Hatteras Last summer and it was fantastic! The only part of the trip that was tricky was the ferry from Ocracoke to the mainland....our boxer babe had a blast but was so fearless of the boat that I was a nervous wreck...there were people playing ball on the back of the boat and I was sure she was going to pull out of her harness to try and catch a fly ball!
