Bahamas-Atlantis

Has anyone been down to Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas? We are thinking about going there for our anniversary. Mostly all the reviews online are great so just wanted to know if anyone has been there and what your thoughts on the place are?

Hi,

I was at the Atlantis back in 2000 (so my thoughts may no longer completely apply now). It was probably one of the best vacations that I have ever been on. The hotel property is so massive and so much fun, you pretty much never want to leave the hotel (other than going snorkeling - which I very highly recommend -, we only left for a few hours for one day, to go to the straw market, I don't think there really is much to do outside of the hotel anyway). There are a ton of different places where you can eat with all different types of food. There is also a shopping mall and a casino, along with a pool connected to the hotel.

I live outside of NYC, so the beaches and water in the Bahamas were a world apart from the beaches here. The sand is almost pure white and the water is crystal clear. We were able to see small fish when we went into the ocean.

One thing to note - I believe that we are currently heading into their rainy season so if you are planning on going within the next few months, you should check that. We went in late March and other than one day when it rained, the weather was perfect.

Well we are trying to plan somewhere to go a year from now. We'd be going the end of May 2010. I just talked the other day with someone else who had just gone a couple weeks ago and they said the same that it was the best vacation they had been on (and they travel a lot). We're near Boston and don't want to go anywhere too far away and heard about that place and looked it up online and it looks amazing. Thanks for your input!

No problem. I am not sure if pets are allowed, so if you are planning on bringing any pets you should probably check with the hotel.
