London - things to do

One of the guys here at work is going to London for a few days, of course big mouth me says "Oh I lived in London, if you want any info on things to do let me know"
Well, I have ended up looking for flights, places to stay and things to do.
Flights no problem.
Places to stay - I thought maybe a B&B in the Victoria area as they are pretty cheap and close to everything.
But now things to do - Portabello market, camden town, soho, museums, galleries, etc.....
The usual, but it has been nearly 18 years since I have been in London and I know things have changed so I need ideas to give to this guy.

Please help.

You need to go south of the River to see the 'true' London..(Please before you come here, you HAVE to visit Covent Garden)..The most exquisite shops, designer stalls selling 'one off pieces' of jewellery (all my friends say 'Where did you get that??).. Wonderful street entertainers, and at Christmas It's THE most magical place.. At London Bridge you can Visit the 'London Dungeon'...Go in only if you have nerves of steel! HMS Belfast is worth a look too.. Don't forget to have a look at Tower bridge, It's truly spectacular! East street market for bargains..Or venture to the east end for Petticoat lane..Taste pie and mash and eels..True cockney grub..If you are in the 'West end'..get the bus into South East London..Go down to Deptford market, go along the river to Greenwich, and see the 'Cutty Sark, 'The Gypsy Moth', and the Royal observatory, (see the meridian line) The Rangers House, and Maritime museum..A real palace where royalty once lived, the grounds of Greenwich park are lovely... and still have deer running about.. Saturday and Sunday are market days, and have loads of stalls and arcades, with objeda, antiques and things you will never find elsewhere, and you can barter! Take a walk along the old tunnel that joins us from Greenwich under the river to 'The Isle of Dogs' ... Find a host of real pubs, that will give you a great meal for under a tenner, whilst overlooking the Thames..Go to the Village in Blackheath, where you can find small designer shops and wonderful restaurants, lot of them dealing especially in sea food.. Just venture a little past all the 'touristy' areas, and you will find the place where I live..I LOVE it, and think we have the best of everything on our doorstep!

Marion,

Thanks, I wish it was me that was going. These are all the places that I used to go to with my hubby. What wonderful memories you have brought back.

This guy that is going is single, spanish & with very little english. IŽll find him a pub and leave him to it.
