Love at first sight

I had started thinking about having a second boxer and was looking on the sites of boxer rescue etc. It so happened that my neighboor had been to a canine center and had seen four boxers. Well by the time I got there only two were left. My Melvin was the in the second cage.I looked into those eyes that seemed to be asking "why am I here I'm a good dog. He was so sad and so skinny. He seemed to be depressed. I looked into those beautiful eyes and promised him that I would be back the next day. I returned the next day, when I got to his cage and they let him out all I could think to do is put my arms around him and give him a big hug. Which in retrospect was a bit foolish but I had nothing to fear he leaned against me and kind of hugged me back. He sat on my sons knee with his head on his shoulder all the way home.
While I was picking Melvin up my husband had taken Zoe(his new sister) to the park where she was to meet her new best friend. Zoe is spoiled and feisty and just loves to play so when she saw Melvin game was on. It was so sad to watch Melvin play he really seemed to have lost all confidence and he was only 9 months old.
Today Melvin is doing much better he has regained his confidence and gives Miss Zoe a run for her money . Mostly he is just a big lovable Teddy bear. My proudest moment was the first time he laid on his back and fell asleep. They say that when a dog does this he feels secure. He still has his issues with seperation anxiety and follows us like a shadow but he is coming along. In 9 months he had been in 3 homes. I am truly greatful that he is in our lives. We love him dearly. He is attentive, gracefull, loving ,intelligent, gentle and best of all, ours.

What a great story!!! Melvin has found his forever home That's so sad....nine months old and was already in 3 different homes I am happy to hear that Melvin has set into your loving home and I bet he's grateful every minute he spends with you.

Your a wonderful person for saving him and giving him the loving home he so much deserves

Welcome home Melvin

That is so wonderful! Our Logan has also been in 3 homes in 11 months and is very clingy and insecure. I'm glad to hear that love and caring can overcome the past. Yay for Melvin!
