The proper way to measure.

Could anyone please explain the proper way to measure my boy. I get asked all of the time how tall he is and to be honest, I have never thought about it and I'm not sure how to measure. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Height should be measured from the ground to the withers. The withers on a dog is in the same place as a horse - and chosen as the height reference for the same reason (it doesn't move with the head - so doesn't matter if he's looking up, down or straight ahead). This is the point above the shoulderblades, where the neck and back intersect.

A pictorial is probably more useful: http://www.americanboxerclub.org/boxerst12.html
