Need opinions on my puppies please! conformation wise?
Hi, I have a plain dark brindle boy named "Rayne" who I would possibly like to show(mostly just for fun) I used to do 4-H showmanship when I was 12 and had alot of fun..I wanted to know from you experienced or non experienced breeders what you think of his conformation? What does or doesn't he have, that may be needed for the conformation ring? Please be honest here,I know he is only 8 weeks old and it is pretty hard to tell now but just give me YOUR opinions...Also "Storm" Is my hubby's new pup and he just wanted me to ask what everyone thought about her conformation wise?.. Please be honest with us and give us your opinions...It would be very helpful..BTW Storm will be shown in obedience and agility by my hubby no Conformation for him!..
Thanks for any suggestions!

I am sure everyone will give you great advice about your puppies both their strong points and what they are laking but also movement is very huge. Another good idea besides having someone from the club who may be busy or ( I always worry they are just being nice and not mentioning faults I can see ) Every picture it seems that is passed around our club everyone is like wow sure is a nice looking puppy and I look and am like it is an ok looking puppy. I think I have been accused of having very high standards. But, when bettering the breed isnt that the point high standards? Anyway, what I am getting at is you may find some people who will be brutally honest with you but more times then not people want to be polite and may point out 1 or 2 faults but tell you your dog is great looking you may want to take you dog to a pro handler and ask them their ideas on the dog and what they would suggest. I know you want to show the dog no matter what the confirmation and you dont want to use a handler but they will give you good advice and you dont have to use them. Just a thought. I cant wait to see the pictures!

Well, I think it's near impossible to evaluate puppies from pictures. Especially very small pictures of a 13 week old puppy. LOL
Puppies are evaluated at 8 weeks, where they are generally thought to be proportionately what they will be as an adult. After that point you really shouldn't even consider reevaluating until 6 months and often much later. Between 8 weeks and adult, puppies go through alot of weird growth phases, especially around the 13 weeks mark.
Further, there is much more to conformation than outward appearance. A stacked dog can hide faults, and you can't see movement, bite and many other conformationally important features from still pictures. I've seen alot of pictures of dogs that made me go "WOW!" and then was disappointed when I saw them in the ring.
Your best bet, as was previously stated, is to have someone who is experienced get their hands on your puppy once it has had time to mature. Watch your dog move, etc. That's the only way to judge conformation.
Good Luck

GoCougs-
She stated that these pups are in fact 8 wks old!
I agree though. You can't tell from those pictures...they are way too small. A lotof things go into 'meeting the standard' and pictures aren't the best way to tell.
I realize that you want a critique of the puppies from what we are able to see on the pictures. You will have to provide us with bigger pictures in order for us to do that! LOL If you post some larger pictures, I will try to help out. I have been mentoring under a couple of fabulous people...I don't know everything like many of the the breeders that have been doing this for a long time...but I am starting to recognize what to look for!
