The training center I go to hosted a 3 day APDT rally trial this weekend. I was the course builder/timer/general assistant for the trials as well....so it was a busy weekend all around.
Johann was fantastic!

My goal was to get 1 score that was higher than 195 (our previous personal best score) over the course of the weekend. Johann and I haven't done any rally practice in a few months, so I figured we'd be a bit rusty.
We entered in to level 1 for each trial (equivalent of rally novice in AKC), so he had 6 total runs over 3 days. He got a qualifying score in each run. Our scores were 183 (snow fell off roof and someone's dog freaked out outside the ring....we lost focus completely), 195, 197, 201, 204, and 205 (personal best!

). We ended up with the award for "3rd highest score in trial".
Not only was he great in the ring, but he was so well behaved outside the ring as well. He had to spend all day Fri/Sat/Sun at the training center; crated in a room with a bunch of other crated dogs. This was a totally new experience for him and he hasn't been crated at all for 2 years, but I didn't hear a peep out of him the whole time. The weekend was full of competitors and judges telling me how much we have improved since the fall and that Johann is a wonderful dog.
Funniest part of the weekend....I found out that the president of APDT rally purchased this picture of Johann from our last trial and framed it for her office.

I'm so proud of my boy.

He's passed out on the couch next to me, I think he's going to sleep for a week.
