Rocky won first place

So we are in a basic obedience class now - it is much better than our puppy class at a petsmart where he didn't really learn much. We just got back from our fifth class.

We are working on sit stays with distractions like tennis balls and squeaky toys, etc.

So tonight at the end of class the instructors had us all (7 dogs total) play musical chairs. We walked in a heel position with our dogs and when the music stopped you had to make your dog sit and stay. Once the dog's rump was on the ground you could sit on a chair. My hubby decided he wanted in for this game.

Rocky won!! He constantly sat and stayed - one time the hubby put him in a sit/stay and then hubby had to run across the room to another chair b/c someone took the one near him. Rocky stayed right there and didn't move!! He even stayed while the instructor rolled a tennis ball across the floor right in front of him once it was down to 2 dogs!

I'm a proud mama! He's not even 8 months and has his first "ribbon".

Way to go Rocky (and parents)! Having an obedient pet is one of the best things that we can do to keep our dogs safe.
