Great picture Sharon!!
I don't mind lizards, in fact I've held several different species. Nothing as large as a goanna though!! I don't think I'd want to encounter one that's upset!!

Me too! I would have a heart attack if that thing crawled up me!
I don't watch shows about reptiles or spiders on tv. Too creepy for me.
But Krikkit, Amy is gorgeous!!

Great picture!! But I must agree-"running up a human"????.
Eeeeeewwww I just got chills myself!!!
I've played with lizards in my time, while living in Oklahoma, but I chased them-NOT the other way around!! (Kinda a double standard, though, huh?)

Goanna's will actually turn and attack. If they don't attack they will run up anything - including humans.
Yet another reason why I choose New Zealand as my home.

But you are coming here for a holiday!!
Make sure you bring your running shoes & put in a little bit of training first ... you'll be just fine!
Seriously though, if one does chase you just drop to the ground. They like to run UP things.

A small one did run up my Mother - Bella and Layla were in hot persuit and Mum just happend to be there. It was really little, not long out of the nest, thank heavens. When they grow they are very dangerous - all those claws and teeth
The don't frighten me as much as Kangaroo's though - the big males are very scarey indeed!
EDIT: Mum has never forgiven us for that incident

Anyone out there want to come to NZ and look after 6 boxers , 2 cows, 1 cat , 1 moody mare and 1 very rascally mini colt who thinks hes a boxer?
|
Pick me, pick me. Sounds like a wonderful vacation to me, as long as there aren't any LIZARDS THAT RUN UP HUMANS!!!!!! YUCK!
Boy, am I glad I live in the high desert where it's too darn cold for anything like that to survive.
Bev
P.S. Sharon, Amy is just beautiful.
