what on earth is the equivalent in Greece as we dont have that brand???

10 envelopes of unflavored gelatin ????
like the ones we use for pastry?
Soorry for such stupid questions but hey guys this is Greece - i am not familiar with some of the terms used ; can anyone please explain - i would very much appreciate and Argos would too...

Why are you wanting to feed satin balls?

lg is just a shortcut for "large" - Total is a popular breakfast cereal and comes in two different size boxes - a large and a small. I would guess that any vitamin/mineral fortified cereal would be the equivalent.

Wheat germ is, technically, the nutrient-rich core of a wheat kernel (the same kind of wheat used to make bread and flour). Here in the US it's sold in jars of toasted flakes. Here's a link to a website which gives you the nutritional breakdown - I honestly have no clue what an equivalent would be...

I find molasses in the grocery store with other baking supplies, or wherever you'd find corn syrup or sugar. Molasses is made when sugar cane is processed into sugar - it's the dark brown syrup that is left behind when sugar is refined into "white sugar". Raw sugar is brown because it still has molasses in it.

1 envelope = 1/4 ounce of gelatin powder = 1 sheet (usually). It's more common to buy the powdered gelatin here as opposed to the sheets of gelatin (which is better stuff and more popular in Europe). This is just basic gelatin - an odorless, tasteless, colorless thickening agent derived from animal protein.
Enjoy!

Is your boxer sick, is that why weight needs to be added?
Satin balls should only be used on sick animals who are not gaining weight or sick animals who will not eat.
If you have a healthy boxer than chances are your boxer's weight is just fine. There are other things you can give to improve skin and coat that are much better for the animal.

Andie,
Argos suffers from skin allergies - red toes - and i thought this might boost him up a bit.
He is otherwise a healthy but skinny boy - being rather picky when it comes to food and we have tried literally every brand in the market...he is just not fascinated by it.
When it comes to treats though...he just cannot say no - who does???

Instead of going the satin ball route, which will not help with allergies, have you considered homecooking his meals? A home cooked meal or a raw diet would be the next step if you dog has allergies and you have tried all the food available to you.
Please check out the BARF forum and do some reasearch on homecooking and a raw diet. You can start here by typing in those key works in the search engine.

I have just started Lady on the BARF diet, she is an extremely picky eater but she loves it - she would go days without eating before and now she is thrilled by her meals. I believe she also is allergic, because her feet and ears got red and she itched her nose a lot and she had lots of eye goobers. However, since switching she is itching a whole lot less already and about one eye goober a day instead of three! Even if she didn't have allergies, the enjoyment she gets from eating the food would be worth it. Good luck finding the right thing for Argos! -Mariah.

Thanks Mariah,
my main problem is that my husband is dead against feeding Argos raw food - and i thought satin balls would be an easy way getting him to change his mind- you know starting with ''treats'' and then moving on to changing his meals...
anyway i hope i can figure a way to persuade him...

If you start off with homecooking, then there is no raw food.

I'm assuming by him you mean your husband and not your dog...in which case, why don't you try doing dehydrated meat and fruits? You don't need one of those fancy dehydrating machines, a long bake in the oven at low temps achieves the same effect (you'd have to read up more on it but my best friend's mom used to make homemade fruit rollups this way) and that way you could make some treats for the dog that were healthier and yummier and your husband could get used to the idea gradually? It's a much smaller jump from meat/fruits to BARF than it is from what is essentially a rice krispie treat to BARF. -Mariah.
