freeze dried liver treats?

I found a recipe on how to make these. Does anyone make them? If so, I have a question. The recipe says to boil the liver then freeze in a frostless freezer for about 30 days. Do I put them into a container or lay them on a cookie sheet to freeze? Didn't know if it would make much of a difference or not.
I'd love to make them as Tyson loves them, but they are so darned expensive.
thanks everyone

I was wondering how to make liver treats myself. Do they have to be freeze dried or will drying them in a dehydrator work too? They are now on raw and need a healthy treat and thought the dried liver would count as an organ meat.

Waiting on responses too! Good question Kathysboxer!

IMO I don't see why you couldn't dehydrate them. The site I found has a bunch of recipes. All I did was google freeze dried liver recipes. Maybe the same would work for your dehydrator recipes. I told Santa I wanted a dehydrator, but he thought a new ring would be better. Yes, I am spoiled. But that's ok, I don't mind

I don't make these myself, but with freezing other little parts, I do lay them out on a cookie sheet until they're completely frozen, and then package them up in a freezer bag.
I do dehydrate occasionally. Don't use a recipe though, just cut it and dehydrate until it's completely dry. Kathysboxer, have you tried to put an ad on CL or freecycle or such for a dehydrator? DH brought home 4 from a friend at work that the guy found when cleaning out his parents' attic, so people may just have them laying around. The one I bought I only paid $40 for at Walmart and it's a nice model that has a fan and temp controls. Others can be bought new for $20.

I actually asked for one for Christmas, but guess Santa forgot!!! I am going to get one, just haven't gotten around to it. I have heard that liver really stinks when you dehydrate it (stinks up the house). How true is this? I really like the idea of making homemade treats.
I am going to try the freeze dried liver this weekend if I can find liver cheap. Thanks for the input on the freezing. Just wasn't too sure if it would dry out or not if I put it in a container first. Thanks for explaning it to me.
I think I will stick an ad on Craigslist for a dehydrator or put word out that I'm looking. I like that idea as I can dehydrate fruit and such for us also. And also make jerky which we love, but is so expensive.
