Smile Anyone have any Grain-free recipes?

I've just switched Stella to a raw diet and am trying to find a substitute for Milkbones. Stella seems to have issues with most grains. I'm open to suggestions and would like something that stores in the fridge well. Thanks!

You could try replacing wheat will all sorts of other flours, like rice, oat, spelt, pea etc. There is lots available and you may be able to find some that she doesn't have a problem with.

You can also get dried chicken strips at Costco. They are 100% chicken. They make great treats and are a good replacement for biscuits.

Wow, that's great! We're going to have a baking party! I will probably use the instant potatoes because I'm pretty sure Stella is allergic to MOST grains. I've never found a kibble she agrees with and just switched to raw. I'm now starting the "planning stages" of getting the corn-laden, wheat-filled treats out of the treat drawer. Thanks much.

Chopper is the same way with grains. He would get SO sick after he ate Milkbones. I amke these for him (with out the cornmeal) but I use Rice flour instead of White Flour. My husband calls them his 'crack cookies' because he will do ANYTHING for them

Snickerpoodles

1/2 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup shortening
1 cup honey
2 eggs
3 3/4 cup white flour
2 teaspoons cream of tartar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 cup cornmeal
2 teaspoons cinnamon

Mix vegetable oil, shortening and honey together until smooth. Add eggs and beat well. Blend in flour, baking soda and cream of tartar. Knead dough until mixed well. Shape dough by rounded teaspoons into balls. Mix the cornmeal and cinnamon together in a bowl and roll balls in mixture. Place 2 inches apart on a cookie sheet that has been sprayed with a nonstick spray. Press the balls down with a fork twice going in 2 different directions or press with your favorite stamp. Bake 8 minutes at 400. Remove from baking sheet and cool on a rack. Yield: 36 pieces.
