Mincemeat for Mince Pies

Hi, does anyone have a tried & tested Mincemeat recipe that they would be willing to share? My family have requested them this year for Christmas, but I have been unable to find prepared mincemeat in the shops here.

I have never seen or had a mincemeat pie. What is in them?

The only recipe I have made uses green tomatoes. I made some this year and it turned out pretty good.

Jars of mincemeat are usually found in the stores around this time of year. I am surprised that you can't find it.

They are delicious. They are pastry tarts filled with a mincemeat that contains mostly currants, raisins, candid peal, lemon rinds, apples and either Brandy or Whiskey. The are very popular in the UK. Despite the name they contain no meat.

I have found a couple of recipes on the internet but really wanted one that someone could recommend.

Sorry I didn't see this post earlier My Mom gave me the recipe but I never tried it yet.I am lucky enough that she always gives me some.
2 lbs of beef ground
3 lbs of apples cooked
2 pkgs of currants 2 pkg of raisins
2 cups of brown sugar
1 tsp of nutmeg
2 tsp cinnamon
half tsp of cloves
1lb of suet
half cup of vinegar
1 tsp of salt
All measurements are approximate. Mix to taste.
I realize I am late but for future reference. It is interesting that we have many of the same recipes as the UK Looks like there is a few ingredients missing but I am sure you will can add and there will be no problem.Kind of looks like one of those recipes that get better over time. My Mom used a hand grinder for the meat one of the ones that you attached to your table. Good Luck
