Ziploc omelettes!
I got this "recipe" off another forum I visit. I have not tried it yet, but it sounds great, and thought I would share. I will be trying it for breakfast tomorrow morning!!
This works GREAT!!! Good for when all your family is together. The best part is that no one has to wait for their special omelet!!
Have guests write their name on a quart-size ziplock freezer bag with permanent marker.
Crack 2 eggs (large or extra large) into the bag (not more than 2) shake to combine them.
Put our a variety of ingredients such as: cheeses, ham, onion, green pepper, tomatoes, hash browns, salsa, mushrooms, etc.
Each guest adds prepared ingredients of choice to their bag and shake. Make sure to get the air out of the bag completely and zip it up.
Place the bags into rolling, boiling water for exactly 13 minutes. You can usually cook 6-8 omelets in a large pot. For more, make another pot of boiling water.
Open the bags and the omelet will roll out easily. Be prepared for everyone to be amazed. Nice to serve with fresh fruit and coffee cake; everyone gets involved in the process and a great conversation piece.
Imagine having these ready the night before and putting the bag in boiling water while you get ready. And in 13 minutes, you got a nice omelet for a quick breakfast!!!

Re: Ziploc omelettes!
Sound like a good plan. When I managed a cafeteria, we used premixed eggs in a bag we boiled

Re: Ziploc omelettes!
Ok, I tried it and it worked. I had my doubts but as soon as I saw this I had to try. I made the pups a practice omelet and yes it rolled out nicely! Very cool!

Re: Ziploc omelettes!
I have read this recipe before but I have also heard/read that it isn't real safe to boil in plastic bags. Something about the chemical make-up of the bag. I think someone asked Ziploc about it and they did not condone the idea of boiling in their bags. Maybe if you do a search, you can find the info.

Re: Ziploc omelettes!
This is a great idea for catering for several people at once. If there are some concerns about boiling in these Ziploc bags, an alternative could be to do the same idea in small oven dishes like ramekin pots or small casserole dishes and bake them in the oven. Just as easy and tastey. mmmm

Re: Ziploc omelettes!
Yum...great share K8IE!! This will work for me, because I am a horrible omelette maker, they always end up looking like scrambled eggs.

Re: Ziploc omelettes!
Gosh that sounds like an awesome creative idea...great for camping. Unfortunately I found this link as I, too was concerned about cooking in the plastic. Ziploc 100% discourages this act. Here is the link I found.
