Helpful hint for Marinating

I buy my chicken, pork and beef in large amounts when on super discount sale and then freeze it in manageable portions as there are only two of us (ok, I admit... for the three of us! Junior too) I read one day to actually put the marinade in the freezer bag along with the meat prior to freezing. When the packets are thawed they are fully marinated! It has worked out so well to have different flavors for a change. Also, saves a lot of time waiting for it to marinate. I have made some really interesting marinades as well as tried good store bought ones (on sale with a coupon of course ) as there is never enough time when you have to whip up a dinner. I try to make a few bags of each so even if there is company I can pull out more portions. This may be a "duh Elizabeth" for some of you but I never thought of it!!
(PS- I have even "thawed" these in the microwave and they are great!) This is especially great on roasts that are on sale that you may not eat for a while. I have even used (oil based) salad dressings that I purchased that did not quite fit the bill for salads but make GREAT marinades

I do this as too. I place my chicken, pork chops and fajita meat into seperate bags and label the outside with the date and kind of marinade. I love this!!! As a working woman it is so nice to take out a bag and let it defrost for the day. When I get home, they are ready to cook. And boy, is the meat full of flavor. I also use a lot of cut up chicken in my dishes so I also cut the chicken and place into bags and freeze (one less thing I have to do when I get home!!). My fav. marinade is plain old Italian dressing (goes w/ everything!!).

Thank you for the great marinade tip. I have just bought a pack of 6 pork tenderloin steaks, made the marinade and now we have makings for three dinners marinading in the freezer. I worked it out and it is $3.00 for a meal for two, plus the home grown potatoes and carrots!

That is so great I just did a ton of bone in chicken breasts that are just fantastic. The store had them on sale for .69/lb plus they had so much that a few were an additional 75 cents off (manager's special) so I put literally a "ton" in the freezer!
