Exclamation food aggression???

the wierdest thing happen this morning when i was feeding my 7 week old. I lightly scrambled and egg and added it to his morning kibble. i went to pet him on top of hi shead as usual, and then he snapped on me! he growled and just got nasty for like 10 secs. it actually scared the crap out of me. is this normal? shoul di worry about this happening all the time. i usually pet him while he eats so he doesnt become aggressive over food, but he just went off on me.

It's possible that the same thing happened to him when you went to put your hand on his head (it's a dominant gesture - and he may not have seen it coming).

But it is also possible that he was protecting his food from you. That's not something you want to continue. Here's a recent thread on a similar situation. Wet Food Aggression??? Do check out the links given - there's some very good information there that will help you toward developing a leadership role and harmonious relationship with your puppy. Good luck

lunch time

when my girlfriend and i fed him his luch today we added some canned food and he attempted to guard again, but not as bad as this morning. we took the food away for a few minutes and gave it back to him. hopefully this does not progress.

he came from a byb. when i learned about what breeders were suppose to offer it was too late. i don't regret it though, i love the little guy to death.
