Puppy taking over the doggy bed

Today Bishop (11 wks old) was on the orthopedic bed I have laying on the floor behind the sofa; it faces the kitchen and both dogs can see me make coffee, dishes etc. So they both like to lie there and watch me in the morning as I get their breakfast 2gether. Later this morning Bishop was in the middle of the bed and when Lacy made a move to get on it to he jump on her back and was very vocal, growling and it was very sharp sound. So I said "no" very quickly Picked me him and put him in his gated play area because didn't like his energy. Can he all ready be trying to take over and be the head dog over Lacy ( 1 1/2 yrs)? Come to think of it I have noticed Lacy being on the cushion and occassionally when he approaches she moves and goes to another area; twice she has growled at him when he tried to jump on top of her and I removed him when this happened and he went to play pen area. But they do play/wrestle on it and jump on it and sometimes lie there together so his this sudden hard growling surprised me. This I don't like I feel like they should share this big cushion; big enough for both of them. This little tyke is much more feisty than I remember Lacy being his age ,of course, when Lacy was a puppy she was the only dog in household. Can you tell me if I made the appropriate action to his obnoxious behavior or should I have not either of them on the bed because in general it doens't really belong to them I paid for it. Or should I make both of them lie there together calmly ?? (this would be hard because he is so wiggly and active now). I'm a little worried here. (or maybe Lacy is moving from the bed from Bishop approaches because sometimes she doesn't want to put up with his biting?)

I would try and let them work it out. A puppy can be very annoying and it is amazing what an adult will let get a puppy get away with. She will eventually put him in his place.

@ Jan, you are probably right about letting them work it out between themselves. I'll just keep monitoring them. Actually, right now they are both on the dog bed and both sleeping on it nicely. Thank you for responding and it is so nice to know I have support from BW and people who know the breed.
