I know this is an old thread, but I had somewhat the same problem with Roxy and my wife. I was meet a dog trainer this past weekend and I was discussing it with him and he was telling me that even though a dog teething around 4 months, they still are chewers and need to chew up to almost a year later.
He said most people who have dogs chew up their furniture or anything more than 90% of the time they are dogs that are less than a year old. He explained that even though the official teething might be over, the puppy still will be a chewer until it's at least a year if not two years old.

Well he said even though you should correct your puppy from trying to bite you or chew on your leg, hair...etc he does not consider it a behavior problem unless the dog is over 2 years of age, because he considers anything under 1 year of age as still somewhat teething, since they still need to chew twice as much as a dog that's over 2 years of age. But he said you need to teach the dog, so that it doesn't become a behavior issue when it's older than 2 years old.

My sister has two labs and she never crate trained them. When they were about 10 months old they actually chewed a hole in the wall in one of their rooms. They would chew everything up and now they are 3 years old and they will not chew anything at all unless it's their toy or a treat.
