A new puppy with a few problems!

First of all, I just want to say this site has been amazing in helping us plan for our new boy Zeke! He is 8 weeks old and we just brought him home 3 days ago.

A little background - he started having really bad diarrhea yesterday and a vet trip told us he had giardia and coccida from the breeder...

So onto the problems - He appears very shy, he is constantly shivers/shakes when exposed to new situations or places in the house and howls up a storm in the car, but is very comfortable with us and new people. He also shivers as he falls asleep EVERY time....are these things normal due to the stress and adjustment of leaving his littermates?

He also grinds his teeth, it's the worst sound ever! He does it mostly while falling asleep, but also at other random times throughout the day. The vet just kind of blew it off and said his jaw alignment is fine, but I'm still concerned!

Any input helps, I just don't know if some of these are related to him being sick or adjusting or if it's a different problem!

Other than that he's a huge cuddle bug, he's doing amazing with potty training, and we can't take our eyes off the beautiful boy!

My Frazier did the shaking shiver thing a lot when we first got him...any new situation, riding in the car, going out in the backyard ( I would have to walk out with him)...he wouldn't leave my side! He is much better now but I see the shiver thing occasionally in new situations, the vet says he's still trying to figure it all out...He plays with other dogs and has a big sister that he plays with all the time...he is very social, but initially shy...he is the sweetest most loving little boy! my Laila is the complete opposite!! Even now he has to come find me to "check in" and make sure that I am still there...they are just like kids!!! I wouldn't change anything about either one of them...
Congratulations on your new puppy...give lots of love and you will get it all back and more!!!

Update

Zeke is settling in. He now only shivers when there is something new and his teeth grinding has lessened during the day, but worse when we crate him. He is really coming out of his shell personality wise! He's such a monster and I love it!

Today is his first day alone....he's in the crate with someone coming to let him out and play with him twice today. He still hates his crate during the day. I have yet to see him actually settle down in his crate (unless it's nightime). I really hope he doesn't howl ALL day...it breaks my heart!!

My only other question is barking. He barks at us when he doesn't get his way. Do people correct this or just ignore and let the barking continue?? I don't know what works better.....
