still peeing in kennel?
Remington is doing great and is smart as can be.... but for some reason, he has never stopped peeing in his kennel.. I have even made the kennel smaller to where he only had room enough to stand or lay down and it doesnt matter, he will pee right on the towel he lays on. And as soon as he pee's on it, he just lays down and goes back to sleep. During the day, we take him out all the time. He goes to the door and whines and we let him out, but at night, he doesnt make a sound.... and it never fails, always a wet towel and him laying right on it... So I am going through towels like crazy... I considering taking the towel out and making him lay on the plastic paneling along the bottom of the kennel, but i would feel bad for doing that, so i never did.... Maybe i should try it.?
Is there a way to prevent this though? I know possibly getting up every hour and letting him, but who's to say it wouldnt happen right after i bring him back in or right before i take him out..??
Just kind of confusing to me because i always thought dogs wont pee where they sleep, but he just has this laid back attitude like he doesnt care and it doesnt bother him...
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Some dogs do not soil thier kennel, but many do. No UTI , right? How long is he in during the day? As far as at night he is still young enough that i would be taking him out. When does he last go out and what time does he then go out in the morning?

I take him out right before I go to bed, which is generally around 11:00.. His kennel is right beside my bed and he generally whimpers or whines when he wants out and I take him when he whines, but he doesnt make a sound during the night... (I'm not a deep sleeper, if something makes the littlest sound during the night, I am wide awake) He just doesnt care if he pee's in there or not... I am hoping he grows out of it though.,.
As far as the UTI, he is free and clear..... He just pee's and pee's and pee's and its definitely not a strain... he doesnt have any issue's there.. he runs all over the yard and finds him about 4 places he wants to pee... prancing around the home time like he owns the place...
I wonder if it will stop once he starts hiking his leg?

Sorry, I forgot to answer your question
He goes to bed around 11:00, although he is generally passed out on the couch around 10, but i dont put him in the kennell till 11, and he goes outside right before that. Then, I am awake around 6:30 in the morning and I take him out and he pee's forever, like he has been holding it in.. Then, during the day, My grandma lets him out like 4 or 5 times, until I get home around 5:30.

There is no guarantee that your dog will hike his leg to go to the bathroom as this is a learned behavour. caine is 4 1/2 months old and has only cocked his leg once and that was in the house a month after we got him. He is still a squatter.
If he has no UTi and is peeing in the crate still, I would try havnig him sleep on the cold plastic as he won't have the towel to absorb the urine. It's worth a shot. since he is by your bed and you are a light sleeper, maybe you will be able to hear him move about and possibly catch before he goes or stop him in the middle of it as it will make sound hitting the plastic.
Good Luck

Personally, I doubt waiting for him to "grow out of it" will help, and frankly may do quite a bit of harm. If you continue to let him soil in his crate he will never learn he isn't supposed to, and may in fact teach himself that his crate is where he is supposed to soil. Remington is only three months old, and its great that your grandmother can take him out several times per day, but if I were you I would take him out at least once per night as well. I would also make sure that your grandmother is praising/treating him like crazy when he goes outside during the day. The idea is to teach him that outside is the ONLY place to go, not just an option. And make sure you do the same when you are taking him out as well.
Making him sleep without a towel for a while may help, but its no guarantee. Generally in housetraining, if you have trouble, you take a step back and repeat the prior level of training, which in your case would be to wake him up in the middle of the night and take him out to potty. You may only need to do this for a short time, a couple of weeks, for him to get the idea.
Good luck with the process, I remember sleepless night all too well...

Yeah, I dont mind getting up and taking him out, and he is praised highly for going out... Actually, as soon as he goes to the front door and paws at the door, we start the praising there and petting and saying "good boy" and then open the door and he darts out.. Then he does his thing and prances back to the door where we great him and he shoots right to the steps where his treat jar is, and he knows he gets a treat for going outside and pee'ing or dropping the deuce, as I say.. But my grandma does the same thing and gives him the tiny treat and pets him and etc...
Im gonna take the towel out of the kennell tonight and see how things go.. Im also going to set my alarm and take him out in the middle of the night to see if this helps anything.
When we first got him,he went out like 5 times a night, then within a week, it was down to like 2 times a night, and then, it got to where he never made a sound all through the night, except snoring.
I just recently bought my first house, and I should be moving in, in about a month or so. Im just wondering how well he will do with the transition. We have already been taking him in there and letting him run around and he goes to the back door already to go outside, so hopefully things will go smoothly.

He should do fine in a new place, especially since it sounds like you are acclimating him to it now. I would suggest that when you move for the first week or so you go back to basics again and time taking him out, day and night, just for a little while, to reinforce the housetraining you have already done for the new place just to avoid any confusion for him. That way you avoid any accidents to begin with and have a solid foundation to continue working from.
He really is a cutie, by the way! I wish my guy was still that tiny... They get big SOOOOO fast!

Bosco is not a "leg lifter" either and he will be 19 months on april 7. I think he has lifted his leg to pee only once or twice. When we had Guinness one of them would pee in the crate (we crated them together during the day and at night) and once it was only Bosco in the crate, and no pee, we knew who the culprit was

I am wondering....Nucklehead is fine when he is in his crate when we are not home, but in the morning he will hear us get up when the water comes on and if we aren't there immediately he will pee. (His crate is in the livingroom; we are upstairs.) I'm thinking maybe Remmington hears you move around at night which wakes him up and maybe that is when he pees?? Maybe if the crate wasn't in your room?? I am just guessing and throwing out a different scenario. Taking out the towel may solve his problem.

It could be that he just can't hold it all night yet. I would start with waking up in the middle of the night to take him out and go from there. Housetraining can be a long process. Some dogs just can't hold it as long as others and Remington is just a baby!
