Hola,
Lance is on day 4 at home. He's adjusting pretty well except he hates his crate. It's getting better at night, though I'm afraid I'm conditioning him to cry so I put my fingers in his crate. I need to work on that. I'm also going to do the coaxing/treats/door open technique during the day to try to warm him up to it a bit. The crate I'm using is a plastic carrier versus wire. He grew up in a wire crate at the breeder, so I'm wondering if he's not a fan of not being able to see as much. I will upgrade his crate once he gets a bit older and views it as his den.
He still wakes up about 3-4 times a night, roughly every 90 minutes and cries. But the severity of his cries have gone from sounding like he's dying to whimpers. I know every dog takes their own time to adjust and my patience hasn't worn thin thankfully

I need to not compare him to our golden puppy who adjusted to his crate after about 2 nights. He now loves it. Lance overall is a bit more skiddish and whiney, so this isn't too shocking. I've read about using a hot water bottle or ticking clock. I plan on getting a clock (stupid digital age) but am wondering about the water bottle since it's already kind of warm in our bedroom? It's hot here and even though we have central A/C, our bedroom is on the 2nd floor. No worries about overheating him if I use warm water and wrap it in a towel?
Time for coffee....
