Talking At Last...New Boxer Parents

After what seemed like forever, Friday we offically became parents to a boxer male, Mo-Jo. Mo-Jo is the smallest of his littermates @ 6.5lbs (8 weeks) but his personality is very energetic and boisterious.
The weekend has been very busy for all of us. He took the car ride really well, until we stopped to pick up dinner (carryout) and he peed where my DH was sitting...hopefully this isn't a sign. Once we got home we took him on a tour of the house (playing quarters and sleeping quarters only) and he settled in really well surprisingly. However, getting him in the crate (and sleeping in the crate) was a whole other story. He cried the first night from 11pm-3am and then finally cried himself to sleep until 6am. I'm so nervous about leaving him in the crate all day while we're at work (8-6) but based on previous threads it seems as if it takes a couple of weeks to get used to the crate and seperation (for the pup and parent..). Anyway, we played all day Saturday and Sunday and the human grandparents came over to visit their first "grandchild". We're all so excited. Our days mostly consist of a lot of outdoor time (he loves sitting in the grass, chasing leaves, eating bugs, playing with the neighboor kids and going for short walks or quick spurts). We've had too many accidents in the house to count but each day is getting better and better (today it's only been one time since I've been posting this thread). We also went on our first vet visit today and boy was he popular. All the vets and other parents were ohhhing and ahhing over him, it was so cute. He was a perfect patient and the vet gave him the clean bill of health.
He's been doing a lot of chewing (mostly on toys) and bitting/nipping (toys and humans)...is this normal. I assume so. Also he seems to get this spurt of energy in the evening where he goes crazy....barking, looking crazy, running into walls, dashing around, jumping. Is this normal boxer behavior.

Anyway, I'm enjoying "quiet time" right now as he's asleep in the crate. He's so precious and lovable I can't wait to enjoy many more moments with him and we're so happy to have a new addition to our home.

Congratulations on your new addition. Mo-Jo sounds just like a normal boxer pup. He will certainly keep you entertained. Enjoy puppyhood because they just grow up entirely too fast.
