Raw chicken breath

Rocky loves the BARF diet. The sound of the spoon tapping the edge of his plastic food dish will roust him from a deep snore nap. One problem is his breath just after he eats, especially chicken. Yesterday I kept smelling raw chicken and I thought maybe Rocky smuggled some inside but it was his stuffed toy he played with after breakfast. Any ideas besides baby wiping his mug? Rocky turned 8 months old on the 19th. We took him to the vet for a weigh in --- he's 22 inches and 71 pounds!! The vet said he's not overweight, just a big boy. Is it true Boxers keep growing up to 15 months old?

If you think thats bad, wait till you start feeding fishies

How about giving something like peanut butter or yoghurt after his meal to try and mask the smell?

Oh my goodness, what a big boy you have. I bet he's adorable. A big huggable, lovable male. My Ali is about 60 pounds and she's 22 months. Not a big girl at all. I heard that they don't stop growing before 15-16 months or longer. I don't know if that's correct or not. Anyway, you have a while to go yet if he's only 8 months old.

I have never notice raw chicken smell after my dogs eat, but I sure can smell the fish. I always wipe my dogs mouths with a towel after they eat. Brody is a very messy eater and will have food everywhere.

I got Brody when he was 9 months and he weighed 55 lbs. He is 2 years old now and weighs 63 lbs. So I wouldn't think he would get much bigger. Layla is almost 10 months and weighs 45 lbs, I can't put weight on her. She eats 2 and 1/2 lbs of food a day and still pretty bony.

Just another thought.. does he use his paws at all when eating the chicken? I noticed Lily has stinky paws (beef flavoured ) after eating last night because she had been holding it down to eat. Maybe give them a wipe down too

No he doesn't use his paws, he just happily stands and chomps his chicken. Today we got a steelhead and as I was cutting off the head my husband asked if I was going to give it to Rocky. He was very happy when I told him no. I was told not to give salmon or trout to dogs but then, I was told to never give chicken bones either. I can't imagine giving Rocky a whole fish. What kind of fish is best and are they to be cleaned?
