Unhappy Cassius feels icky

Need some general advise. This weekend, Cash was having trouble eating his wings, and threw up after 3 of his meals and was reluctant to eat the wings back up on the third time (Well, they stunk so bad, I couldn't wait to see either) So I took him off his diet on Monday, and put him on rice in the am and at lunch, his stools looked good, and he seemed much better, so I gave him some yummy stinky fish for dinner. Well, he kept it down, and I gave him beef this morning. he seemed to keep it down ok, so we put him on some wings for lunch. I THINK he kept them down, but I will know for sure when I get home. But he has very loose stools now. I think he may have a stomach virus. Or could it be that the fish just greased the skids so to speak? Should I put him back on rice for a couple of days? Should I boil some chicken for him too? I feel so bad for the poor little guy, and it's not like he can say "mommy I hurt here"

Thanks in advance

Are you feeding the wings at room temperature? Baxter has a very sensitive tummy and will vomit his back up if they have the slightest chill to them. He also will vomit them if he eats too fast. You could try adding a digestive enzyme to his food to help him along for awhile and see how that does also.

Good point, may be the problem...

I usually run warm water over them, but in my rush, I failed to do that a few times this weekend. Makes sense, Because I actually "warmed" them at lunch and he got through them no problem. Poor guy, I will try keeping him on the wings plus a little pumpkin to firm things up. tbsp. per day right? and take some time to get them to proper temps! I give him yougurt 1x a day, usually breakfast. I have had a terrible time finding "ACV with the mother" I guess I will restart my search. Do GNC's carry it?

Thanks!

If you forget to lay them out to thaw, place the baggie in hot water and let them unthaw that way. I then place them in the bowl with hot water (out of the baggie) for a few more minutes just to ensure his are at a proper temp Lay the morning meal out at night and lay out the evening meal in the morning. It won't spoil. I got my ACV at an organic grocery store, I never checked GNC but if you can find a health food store of some sort they should carry it. Canned pumpkin is good for firming things up, loose stools could be from the fish or maybe a bit of detox. Keep us posted!

won't spoil???

Really??? I bag my wings 8 at a time, and take out tomorrows meals today, so I just run warm/hot water over them before I give them to him. It wasn't that I forgot to thaw, though that has happened (we have cans of tuna just for mommies screwups!) I just didn't take the time to run the warm water over them. If I pull out his dinner from the refrigerator at breakfast, it is still safe to give to him?? Is there a general time rule here? I started to get worried that maybe the food was being left out too long, and not safe to give to him. Huh?!?! that would make it alot easier to get the wings at room temp! dang it, I just threw away a bag of wings cause I though they were out too long. Well I may have learned something new today! I can go home happy and satisfied! Thanks Aimee

The fish was a new experience for him, so detox could be the proper diagnosis! By the way, is there anything I can feed him WITH the fish to get rid of that YUCKY breath?

LOL - I too hate fish breath. I don't even eat the stuff myself. And the gas from it is just as bad I usually feed fish alone however someone else might better advise you on what you can mix with it. I don't mix much around here.

I seem to forget ALOT to lay food out to thaw. I will often lay out a frozen baggie of necks or wings the night before for the morning feeding and never have ill effects (these are not refrigerated so that they will actually unthaw). If I remember, I lay out the dinner meal before I go to work. I've put wings unfrozen in the fridge and fed them for up to 2 days. I've not had any problems with it. Hope this helps
