1st Night of Veggie...STILL NO PROBLEMS! :)

Night 7 and Dixie got her first veggie meal.

I gave her minced up yellow squash with a clove of garlic, a little fresh parsley, 1 T brewers yeast and part of a can of "Beef N More" dog food (It is just basically canned roast beef). She wolfed it down! I will move to using ground meat, but want to finish off the canned I have in the pantry.

Yea Dixie!

And wow! what little amounts of poop! I kind of believed everyone when they said there is less, but WOW! That is a dramatic difference!!!!

It's so good to hear how well that Dixie is doing on BARF. I was a little worried when we first switched, but now I would never feed anything else again. It's great.

Thanks guys! I was afraid of the switch too, but now I will never feed anything else either!!!!!

Did her veggie mix sound like the way it should be? Also...what all veggies do you feed your dogs? I must admit I am STILL finishing the book and haven't let myself skip over to the what to feed sections. I don't know what veggies I should avoid for lack of nutrients or whatever. I bought some fresh green beans today so she can have them tomorrow.

You don't want to add too many veggies at first incase they cause any problems. I believe that most of it should be a leafy veggie like spinach, then one or two root veggies, such as carrots, and one or two above ground veggies like green peppers, etc. I usually like to try a variety of different color veggies and try to get a good mix of nutrients. For us, antioxidants are important since Dylan and Willow have had demodectic mange on and off for some time now. Good luck again!
