Question turkey necks

i have been reading alot about BARFing and i have decided to take the plunge this weekend....so i will be able to be around patrick if he has a bad reaction to the food, throws up, chokes etc. so today i was at the grocery store........and i got some chicken wings, giblets and some ground turkey....i saw some turkey necks.........and wanted to get some...but they were a purple-ish color....so i didnt' get them.........i wasn't sure if they were supposed to be that color......so i decided to post and see if that's what they are supposed to look like. also there were pork neck bones........but they seemed too big for patrick........he's six weeks old. do you think that is too young for him to start eating BARF? well that's all thanks

Turkey necks are purplish in color and take a long time to eat unless you chop them up--this however is a pain. Wings are great but necks may be better for such a young pup. However I am more paranoid than most and feed my adult necks instead of backs. Sounds like you are on the right track! Good luck this weekend and let us know how it goes

We feed chicken backs, wings, necks, turkey necks, pork necks, and beef necks. When we first started, we just fed wings because they seemed to be a good size. It took us quite awhile before we would try anything else. Since your baby is so small, I would stick to chicken necks or wings for awhile. Good luck and I know that you'll do fine.
