I talked to our relief vet today and she thinks I should continue the raw and give him time to adjust. She also thinks we should change Griffin's mealtimes so that he never knows when food is coming so he can't get overly excited before eating. And she said feeding him on a raised dish not too high but not flat on the ground will keep him from swallowing air. I thought it was the other way around, but this is also what Gayle recommended. She also said it won't hurt to try a tablespoon of yogurt with his meal. Gayle wants me to call her today to talk about it. Nick gave Griffin his meal this morning and just went to check on him and said he's fine. So I am crossing my fingers I actually get to sleep tonight!

That is such good news!! Tyson and Bailey both eat from raised bowls, but when chewing up a chicken leg quarter or such, they always seem to prefer to eat it on the towel. But it makes sense that if they eat and drink from a raised bowl that they won't be swallowing as much air.
Also, eating a bone in meal, or a big hunk of meat that he has to really chew and rip and tear will slow him down as well.
Keep us posted!!
Enjoy your good night sleep!

That is great that the relief vet was so open to the raw feeding. It is so hard to find a vet that will actually let you do it without any type of hassle!! That is a good idea about moving his meals around. I never thought of that one.

So far so good. I won't let him eat until he is not all excited about eating. Not an easy thing! I just picked up spme beef and turkey chunks and chicken backs. I know chicken backs have a lot of bone. What is a good way of feeding then? Should I only give 1 chicken back a day or even less? And then the meat in turkey chunks for a while until we introduce the red meat? I can't really seem how to figure out the math lol.

If I don't give a little bone with each meal, my 2 get runny poo. You could start with one back per day and see how it goes.
It really isn't hard, it is like a wait and see kind of thing. If the poo looks kind of white and they seem constipated, too much bone. If it still looks kind of mushy or runny, more bone.
I am so glad he's doing better and that I was able to find Gayle for you. She is such a sweet lady!!
Keep me posted on how he's doing!!
