Thumbs up Bulk up a puppy?

Hey all,

Twiggy is 14 months old and has been eating Raw Prey diet since we brought her home. She is mostly eating chicken quarters, with livers, and beef and pork on occasion.

She was definetly the runt of her litter, and is currently at 43 lbs. She has PLENTY of energy and spunk and a great demeanor, but some days I notice she looks a bit lean. When turning to lay down I might see a bit of her spine, or notice a couple of ribs when playing in the yard.

Do I need to think about trying to "bulk" her up with fattier meats, or is she fine?

Any thoughts are appreciated!!

Thanks

Zak

She doesn't sound especially thin - or at least, you *should* be able to see the last couple of sets of ribs on a boxer. If they've disappeared under flesh, the dog is actually overweight It's a lean breed we've got here - muscle on frame, not well covered like a labrador.

If it's more than just the last couple of sets of ribs though, you might consider increasing the amount of red meat versus things like chicken or fish in her diet. This is still protein (not carbs or fat) so should help to build lean muscle mass as opposed to just covering things up with a layer of unneccessary fat (that you'll probably regret later ).
