I made Lily Ugly! Bad Mommy!!!

Yes, guilt again!

I gave Lily and Buster their meaty meal last week. Lily didn't finish the last hunk, so she buried it for later. She digs the hole, drops in the meat and then uses her nose to scoop the dirt back on top. Of course, she held security over her pile until I brought them in. About 6 hours later, they day cooled off, so out they went again for a relaxing cool evening. She went right for her bounty and dug it right up. She wouldn't even let me rinse it off! EW! Anyways, my daughter brought them in and Lily's nose was covered in dirt and mud. I told my daughter to wash her face. She was too busy texting, so it was forgotten. I was away the entire next day and got home after Lily was in bed. The next morning I got up to take them out and noticed Lily's top of her nose was a little bloody. I took a cool rag and started to wipe it so I could see what the problem was. I was thinking she got her nose stuck under the fence and scraped it raw pulling back out. The more I wiped, the more red and raw her nose was and the dirtier the rag was getting. I was so p'd off that my daughter didn't wipe off the dirt! Lily gets bad acne if it isn't kept clean.

Well, I wiped her muzzle and it was red and raw too! And her chin!!! Once I got off all the dirt, it was so red and raw, it looked horrible! So I put on some neo and waited til the next day to see if it would dry up and scab. I figured out that she must have gotten some type of bacteria burn or something from the meat sitting in the sun all afternoon.

Here it is a week later and it's all healed up BUT the coloring didn't return! It's now just pink looking and very shiny like a scar. I am so upset that it wasn't cleaned immediately and now Lily has a weird looking muzzle! Like she dipped her entire snoz into pink paint!!

Lesson learned! Don't rely on a social, college freshman to do what a paranoid, over cautious Mom would do! I hope she feels really bad! LOL I sure do!

Now I look at Lily and feel like I messed up her cutsey little mug. I hope the other doggies don't make fun of her or ignore her cause she doesn't quite look right anymore. LOL

Poor Lily. She will be on Jerry Springer soon asking for therapy and requesting microdermabrasion!

Oh you couldn't make Lily ugly if you tried. She still has a precious little mug. I'm sure that it will become less noticeable with time. I know on me it takes a while for some things to really go away. Regardless she is still just as cute as a button .

That doesn't look as bad as I'd imagined it to be. I'm sure the new skin will heal and grow fur pretty quickly. She's still adorable though.

If it makes you feel better, Johann's little nose/snout are all pink too. His is because he decided he'd see if he could get a waffle out of the hot waffle iron.

ahh bless the little treasure hunter - Im sure she thought it was a great idea. Does she always bury her food out of interest? I am sure it will heal but honestly as others have said she is adorable and cannot be ugly! As for going on Jerry Springer I am sure all our babies would have alot of stories to tell !

OMG!!!! Poor little man! Doggies don't eat waffles silly! You should only be licking the syrup off the table tops.

This is the first time she buried food. I guess she was too full to finish so she thought she would save it for later.

When she was a puppy, a few months old, she used to bite the side of her kibble dish, then toss it into the air and all the kibble would be spread all over the floor. The she would painstakingly nuzzle each piece back into a pile and then top it with the bowl. She was free-fed then before she had to protect her food when Buster came along. LOL She would also do this with her dog toy basket. Nuzzling all the toys back into a pile and covering it up with the basket.

She really makes me wonder sometimes. I gotta post that pic of her completed work on the kibble. I keep forgetting. Doing it now.....
