To Jake
Jake, your earlier life was a mystery. We don't know how long you lived on the streets until we took you in. The vet said you were only 2, but we think he was wrong. You seemed like a more "mature" dog from the beginning. From the time I was a little kid, I had a fear of "big dogs." You took away that fear forever. When I looked into those soulful brown eyes, I knew your home was with us. After only four years, your hip problem was keeping you awake at night and your eyesight was failing. Now, you're at the bridge, waiting for me, running, eating your beloved pigs ears and rolling in the grass. We'll be together again one day. Not a day goes by I don't think of you. Your pictures are all over my office where I can just look up and see you. Be happy, my sweet Jacob!
