Indi - Our Precious Brindle Boxer
My aunt and cousins all had boxers and when my husband and I decided to get a dog we wanted one too. My mother was living with us because she had cancer and we thought a dog would be great company for her. We adopted our puppy 4th of July, 1993. We named her Independence and called her Indi. She became the perfect companion for my mother. After my mother died we got pregnant and had a wonderful little boy, Anthony. The first day we brought him home from the hospital we put him on the floor in his baby carrier so Indi could met him and they became like 2 peas in a pod. Two and a half years later we had our daughter Jo Anna. Indi would lay under the crib when she slept and under the high chair when she ate waiting for food to drop. Wherever the children were Indi was with them. I would often find her in the play room or their bedrooms just laying on the floor near the children. Every family Christmas card included a family picture with Indi. I told everyone Indi was my oldest and best behaved child.
This morning with Hurricane Jeanne bearing down on us in Florida we had to put my precious baby to sleep. She had a stroke or seizure brought on by cancer yesterday when we were at work and school. Our wonderful vet let us take her home last night so we could say our good-bys. We took her in this morning and I stayed with her. It was very peaceful. The vet said it was one of the most peaceful crossings he has ever seen. The four of us are so upset as well as grandparents, aunts, cousins, friends and her cat Beauty because Indi was truly an awesome dog.

What a beautiful dog Indi was and you were blessed to have her in your life. Indi will forever be with you all, deep in your hearts and always looking down on you. God Bless and take care - you cared for Indi in ways that no one else could have.

I'm so sorry about Indie. She sounds like a wonderful dog; you were blessed with her for 11 years. My thoughts are with you, and God bless you down there in Florida with all those terrible hurricanes to deal with.

So sorry to hear about your loss - Indy sounded like such a loyal companion, and I know that you will miss her terribly. I'll pray that you are given strength to see you through this difficult time. I know that it is hard for you to realize now, but the pain does ease - we similarly helped our dog pass over this past summer. Take care - Cathy

sorry for your loss
I also have a dog named Indy, male brindle that is 9. Have had lots of dogs over the years but none that touch your heart like a boxer. Enjoy your memory of your friend.
