Good Bye Wrigley

On Friday morning we had to put down our 9yo boxer/lab. Her vertabrae had fused together and she was in a great deal of pain. None of the meds we tried brought her relief and by Friday, she could barely walk.
I sat on the floor with her at the vet's office and she leaned against me and tried to wag her tail until the last moment. She was much braver than I was; I cried the entire time and am crying again now. I still haven't been able to bring her collar and leash in from the car. And I don't know if I'll ever get used to my comforter being at the edge of my bed; Wrigley used to pull it to the floor and sleep on it every night. (:
Ziva, my 5 month old boxer pup, looks around the house for her, especially in the morning. Such sadness.
Thanks for having this space to share,
Rae

Rae, I'm so sorry for your loss. We had to send our 14 1/2 year old lab to the Bridge last summer - never easy. Hopefully, in time, you'll only think of the good times, and the sorrow will ease.

R.I.P. Wrigley!!
Sorry for your loss!!! Its a hard thing to do. But know that you did the right thing and that she is no longer in pain. She is healed and enjoying all the wonderful pups at the Rainbow Bridge.Your hurt will get easier with time. I've put down 2 of mine down in the last 2 years. I lost my beloved Baylee just this past weekend at 1 1/2yo. I watched helplessly as she was hit by a vehicle. Prayers are with you in this painful time. Luke

Rae,
May time and happy memories ease the pain. You gave Wrigley the last, best gift by setting her free.
Run strong and free at the bridge, Wrigley, you are loved.
