Sweet Rudy baby....
Rudy was a 2 year old pit bull/bulldog mix that the rescue I volunteer for pulled from a high kill shelter 1 hour prior to his scheduled euthanization due to his injuries.
Some sick bastard tried to shoot him in the head - but missed - and the bullet grazed his shoulder leaving a huge hole - and shattered his ankle. On Friday - our vet said he was in shock still and he needed to be stabilized at the ER all weekend. So poor Rudy was at the ER all weekend (with frequent visitors). This morning he was dropped off for surgery to amputate his leg. We were committed to rehabbing him into a happy, healthy tripod and finally giving him the love and respect that an animal deserves in life. Unfortunately - just as they were done with the surgery they were trying to wake Rudy up. He threw a blood clot and went into cardiac arrest. They tried to save him - but couldn't. Rudy - your time with our rescue was too short and we are all heartbroken to hear that we cannot spoil you and give you a glance at the life that you deserved. Run free sweet boy - hopefully you are pain free now and having fun with all the other dogs in doggy heaven. Today has been rough - even though I only met the dog one time - he had a huge place in my heart. That is so sad about Rudy. I really am sorry for your loss. RIP Rudy and run free at the bridge

I am so sorry for your loss. I know how you feel Lauren the shelter I work at does so much for these animals and when things go wrong its devastating.

I'm sad ...but I'm also just straight up pissed off. How is it fair for him to NOT get that chance? It's so annoying....like the person who tried to shoot him in the head should have cardiac arrested....not poor Rudy.

This is just so sad. Just as Rudy was about to grab the brass ring for the good life, it all ended badly. I am so sorry this beautiful boy left for the Bridge.

I agree with the pissed off feeling. Yesterday I triaged a collie with a dead front leg. This was her 3rd time being at the shelter and the last time she was there we told the owner that her foot was infected and a vet needed to look at it. This person will not be getting her dog back but unfortunelty for the dog she is gonna lose a leg. So many people honesly shouldnt own a dog!

This is very upsetting. Even though Rudy didn't make it, at least the last few days of his short life were filled with caring people that were trying to help him and give him a better life. RIP Rudy

Poor baby dog
STUPID BUTT FACE HUMANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Someone should shoot him in the head!!!! I am sorry that Rudy had to go through all this and was lost I hope he is running free and happy, healthy without a care in the world! <3 <3
