Isis My Precious Angel Oct. 25, 1995-Oct.28, 2009

It is with the heaviest heart that I write to tell you that I helped my beauty, Isis, to the Bridge on Wednesday morning. I held her precious, soft head in my arms, kissed her and told her once again how much I adore her and will miss her forever. She drifted into a peaceful sleep as my body wracked with the agony of loneliness as my girl left me. She lay there for a long time while I promised to see her again and cried and cried and cried. The tears still haven't stopped and I don't when they will. Our vet came to our home to help us let Isis go, and she too cried and kissed the beauty, as Isis so well deserved to be cried for and loved, right until the very end.

From the moment she was born, I adored her gorgeous black velvet face. When she was a baby, I would bottle-feed her extra milk because I worried that she was not getting enough from her mother. How she loved that pink bottle! She would suck hungrily and I would just beam at her, my heart overflowing with love. She was the fifth of eight pups, the only fawn with a black mask, and she always stayed by my side from the beginning. her brothers loved to run, run as far as they could, but not Isis. She would never let me out of her sight. I gave her my very best every day we shared and I know that she knew how much she was loved. She had all that any puppy could ever want; my family used to say that they wished they could be re-incarnated as my dog! She deserved the best because she was the best. But all good things must come to an end...

Isis was everything that is good in a dog: loyal, strong, protective, beautiful and unwavering in her steadfast love. I miss her chocolate brown eyes, her velvet face and ears, and her sweet smell still lingers in my nose and makes me cry. The silence in my home and my heart is deafening right now. I could not have loved her more than if I had given birth to her myself. Rest now, sweet princess, and wait for Mummy. We will be reunited someday and we will run across the bridge together into eternity. I love you so much baby girl, my Isis, you are forever in my heart.

FOUR FEET

I have done mostly what men do,
And pushed it out of my mind;
But I can't forget, if I wanted to,
Four-Feet trotting behind.

Day after day, the whole day through--
Wherever my road inclined--
Four-Feet said, 'I am coming with you!'
And trotted along behind.

Now I must go by some other round--
Which I shall never find--
Some where that does not carry the sound
Of Four-Feet trotting behind.

--- Rudyard Kipling ---

I'm so sorry for your loss of Isis. There has been far too many losses recently. The memories you have shared with us make her as much a part of our families as yours. Being able to share her life for 14 years is a great tribute to her strength and love for you.

Rest in Peace sweet girl

I'm so very sorry your beloved girl is gone, I'm in tears here for you. When we helped our Sophie to the bridge last year I thought my heart would break in two and the pain never end, so my heart goes out to you at this sad time.

Run free at the bridge sweet girl.
