We miss you Sasha 8-03 to 9-09

Sasha is my wifes dog, but she belonged to us all, actually we belonged to her. On this past Sunday afternoon, the vet told us that she was not going to get any better, her treatments were not working. as we sat on the cold floor in the small exam room, I could only look at her sad face and cry. Why ? What did I miss ?

A week ago she was all over the place, and then she was a lump on a log, no greetings at the door, no dog slobber on the windows. I thought it may have been the recent births of the grandsons, and maybe she was a little jealous. How stupid of me, that dog was never jealous of another person, she welcomed them with that butt wiggle and a happy face !! Nothing but pure love and loyalty from her, I wish I could have returned half the love she gave us.

I had to make the decision, I didn't want to see her in pain, but I am selfish and greedy, and didn't want to let het go either. My daughter and son came to say goodby, and they asked me why ? What do I say ? All I could say was I'm sorry. I hope she is happy at The Bridge, and she is there to meet me when that day comes.

We miss you Sash, We love you, and we will see you again. Your always in my heart. Thank you for being my friend.

Mick & family,,,,,,,

I am so very sorry to hear about your baby girl. I know it must be hard but don't beat yourself up over this I'm sure what you did was the right thing and I know your baby girl wouldn't want it any other way. I'm sure she is very happy and pain free at the bridge watching over you and your family. Godspeed sweet girl wait for your family at the bridge.

This is so sad, as I sit here reading it tears stream down my face. I haven't even got my new baby home yet and I already dread the day I will have to say goodbye to him. I have lost two boxers in the past and it is so devestating, that's the is one of the reasons I have put off getting another one for so long (12 years) to be exact. I am so sorry for your loss and heartache. Godspeed sweet Sasha, your family loved you as much as you loved them.

Thanks to all,

Thanks for the kind words everyone, I know now what it is to really lose a friend that has been so loyal and loving. This was perhaps the hardest thing I have had to do, but I would get another boxer buddy in a minute for the love and affection they show.

I have had other dogs in the past, but none could compare to Sasha. It will take a while to get back to a normal routine here, but know that your kind words have helped,

Thanks again,
Mick

Your post made me cry. I'm so very sorry for your loss. The only consolation is that she's in a better place free of pain and still wiggling her little nub and greeting everyone. It's not your fault so don't be too hard on yourself. She's right there with you just in a different way. Once again I'm so sorry. Hugs.

Thanks to all,

Again, Thanks for allowing me to "vent" here and thank you for all the kind words.

The wife and I talked tonight. At first, we agreed that we didn't want to go thru this situation again. The more we talked about Sasha, the more we want that boxer love back in our house. It's only been a day since she left us, but we miss that part of us that we honestly didn't know existed, Sasha was a bigger part of our lives than we knew !!

It was a hard decision as we felt that somehow, by bringing another boxer home, that we would be "cheating" on Sasha. But Ill alway have the memories of her doing the Boxer burn on my couch and living room, and my dining room, and the stairs, and the bedrooms,,,,,,,

That was for all 6 of her years, wasn't she supposed to calm down at age 2 ? Thats what I remember reading anyway, but I'm glad she didn't !!
What a wackjob she was. I hope I'm as lucky finding a dog as great as she was the second time around.

Take care folks and look for a new boxer pal soon on the pic page !!
