Weekly update

Last week we started giving Indy the Palladia every 3 days instead of 2 to get his bowels under control with the meds. Unfortunately the tumor and lymph node both started growing again. Thank goodness the runs have cleared up. We are starting the Palladia every other day again and hope it keeps attacking that nasty tumor. We have also added an Omega3 to his list of meds he's taking and we are still working on cutting out the carbs from his diet. My biggest issue is he's always been a picky eater and it too me YEARS to finally find food he would actually eat. He's not thrilled with the premade Primal (any of the flavors) so we are going to try the Bravo and some home made meals.

Poor Indy. If its not one thing its another.

It almost seems like with the Palladia your damned if you give it to him and damned if you don't. You give it to him every 2 days, he gets the runs, but tumor shrinks or stays the same, every 3 days, runs stop and tumor and lymph node grow.

I hope he's ok this time on it every 2 days this time and the runs don't come back. Praying for you Indy.

Me too. We are going to keep him on the Flagyl for the runs and hope that will keep him stable enough for the increased dosage of the Palladia. I'm blessed that he is still a happy silly boy and that I can bring him to work with me. He's snoozing in my office after a lunch of chicken and an egg yolk.

We've had a rough week. Indy's white blood cell count was very low last Tuesday so we had to stop the meds. Overnight Fri to Sat his lymph node doubled in size (it's as big as my hand now) and on Sunday his tumor blew back up to the size before he started the meds.

I'm waiting now to see if we can do a white blood cell test today or tomorrow. My vet sends theirs out so I may be driving to Annapolis for a test a lunch time. I don't even want to think about what is going to happen if his count isn't up...

Poor Indy. How is he doing. Is he starting to show signs of being sick or is he behaving like normal. I feel so bad for you and him. Hopefully things get better soon. Keeping him in my prayers.

Indy's white blood cell count was up so we got meds for a week. Smaller dosage and every 3rd day instead of every other but I'll take what I can get. He's snoozing in my office waiting to go home now. I need to learn his positive attitude!!

He is amazingly good. Other than this nasty tumor on his face and the softball sized lymph node you would not know there is anything wrong with him. He even takes all his meds like a champ. Still playing and chases squirrels (I finally made a deal with him, if he catches one he can eat it ) He is eating well and has actually put on 4 pounds since he started treatments and is eating better than normal.

Thanks for checking on us.

What a roller coaster ride you are on. Hopefully the doctors will figure out a dosage/schedule that works for Indy. I'm very glad to hear that he is still his rambunctious self and is not letting this nasty disease put a damper on his personality. Bella and I will continue to keep him in our prayers.

Sending some fresh, new healing vibes for Indy. Glad to hear he still has the spunk to chase squirrels!

Thanks for all the thoughts. Last night he got his meds and I notice another lymph node filling up. I am amazed at how quick they grow. Guess because it's fluids instead of cells. I've read that the Palladia starts to work "it's magic" about 5 hours after dosage and to give it in the evening so the dogs are calm/sleeping for maximum effect. This morning the 2nd lymph node is almost gone and much of the redness is out of the facial tumor. No change in the size of the tumor or the original lymph node. I'm praying the every 3 days is going to be enough to keep this episode at bay and hopefully next week we can go back to every other day.

I want to thank you all for reading and posting. It's been very therapeutic for me posting our "journey" with this trial medication.
