Sad Sad Day for our Family!

*************** RIP Brutus Maximus ***************

After 5 years after his cancer was removed and almost 2 years of seizures we had to make the tough decision to have our beloved family member sent to a better place.

The cancer started in his chest at the age of 2 and we were good to go for 3 years when he started having seizures and Im not talking small ones either. When you have a 105lb boxer that is flailing all over it is scary and disturbing! Last week he started acting very disoriented and walked around with his head slumped. I noticed that his eyes were rolled in the back of his head when he was in this state. I immediately called the vet and he said to bump up the Phenobarb dosage. I did this and there has been no change in his behavior. Once he started losing control of his bodily functions and would do nothing but lay around and was basically blind, we knew it was time to let him go.

This morning I took our boy to the vet and bid him fairwell! This has been like losing one of my kids since we have had him since he was a puppy. I will miss him more than I could ever explain. The attacking my feet, the tug-of-war battles, the wrestling on the floor and the total love and admiration for life that he had. He has been the best dog that we have ever had and there will not be another like him again. Rest in piece my friend, we will miss you and love you forever!

My deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family on the loss of your boy. Brutus Maximus, a strong name and a good name for a Boxer - it sounds like he was a real trooper and very, very loved. It also sounds like you did all that it took to keep him with you for as long as possible. Rest in peace, dear Brutus.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your beloved Brutus, he is running with all his new friend's and is healthy again, he will always be with you, many, many hugs to you and your family during this difficult time, Kate.

So sorry to hear of your loss. We lost of Rocky to cancer in Feb...you are so right it is like losing one of your kids. They are our babies. Rocky was so precious to us and we miss him dearly. We said the same thing there would never be another one like him. Find peace in knowing you set him free of pain...prayers to you and your family.
