Thumbs down Ruby lacking contact with other dogs

I have posted before about the lack of friendly dogs around the area we live in, Ruby is not having enough contact with other dogs. I wanted to take her to a puppy class but have just found out there isn't one in our town! Every day I am hoping she can meet up with some 'nice' dogs but it just dosn't happen, they are either held back by their owners when we pass or the dog/s Ruby tries to socialise with snap and growl at her. I am not able to get to another town to take her to a class, does anyone have any suggestions?

No Boxerworld members in your vicinity? You could try posting in the boxer bash forum to see if there's anyone out there.

Alternatively, how about enrolling her in a basic obedience class? Not as good as a puppy class from the socialisation perspective, but you'd likely find others with whom you could socialise your girl outside of class.

Thankyou, yes I will post, I live in a small town and it seems there are no puppy obedience/social classes currently run.

How about posting an ad in the local paper or a flyer in the local supermarket asking other "parents" of young pups to get together and form a playgroup to socialize (and tire) the pups!

You might make new friends!

only just stumbled across this thread,

Where in Uk are you?

Are there no parks etc in your area, I found that the friendly dogs are probably all going to same location.. No sensible owner will allow their beloved to be around unsafe dogs.

I am in the south east, near Eastbourne, where I go is the nearest one to me, as I am not a driver I couldn't get to any others, still, the beach is behind us and the parks are just yards from our house
