Boxer pup in the city (kind of long)

So I've been doing reading, and have talked to some really credible breeders, and I realize that Boxers do just fine in City settings and an apartment. I have no problem taking him/her out for 2-3 walks a day and getting to the dog park or regular park a few times a week. In fact, growing up, the dogs we always had had back yards and I was always taught that they needed walks anyways so it was a surprise when some manuals said "If you can't walk them a few times a day, then don't get one for an apartment." Of course, judging by the Boxer's playful nature, I feel like it should say walk them a few times a day and find outdoor activities a few times a week and be prepared to play a ton indoors

So anyway, I haven't gotten the pup yet, should be a few more months but I wanted to get your advice on how to get him/her used to the sounds and the size. I attend a University in an urban setting (which will actually be great for socialization, all college kids walking the streets go nuts for dogs and love to stop and pet them!). There are busy roads and constant vehicular noise to some degree obviously and the road I'm living on specifically is fairly busy and loud most of the day with a nieghborhood around it with quieter streets for walks. I have read Boxers adjust to your lifestyle well, but with those initial fear phases how do I get him/her comfortable with the cars and noise?

Thank you for the help!

Yes I do like living here. I'm attending school here (U of Pitt) so I live in the nearby Oakland/Shadyside area. I'm originally from a rural setting and a small town in Illinois but I much prefer bigger cities. As far as the city, it's definitely got it's own personality. What I like most if I were going to live here permanently is that it doesn't seem too expansive and there aren't suburbs so to speak but large neighborhoods that are close to everything. That way you can go from quiet to loud whenever you want! I haven't explored the city extensively but the Shadyside and Squirrel Hill areas are gorgeous and have their own community with GREAT main street shopping centers so it's like a nice town and are close to the 2nd biggest park next to Central Park East of the Mississippi I believe.

My apartment for next year will be decent sized I suppose (maybe I just have low expectations coming from college living ) But it is a one bedroom apartment with a fairly big living room which will be almost empty besides a couch and a few things - I figure between that and a bedroom, a boxer can certainly run around a bit and exercise inside as well as out.
