2nd Boxer??

Ok
Here's a question for you.
I have never had multiple dogs in the house (cats yes).
Syler's mom and dad are expecting. Slyder is almost 6 months old.
Is it a good idea, bad idea or just wait for a playmate for Slyder? Slyder belongs to my daughter still at home, but for how long?? I have heard that male dogs don't get along once they get the male scent. Is this true and does it make a difference if parents are the same??
So if I did get another should I get a sister or a brother??
Sorry, I'm new to all of this and just want whats best for Slyder at this point.
I do have a little time to decide.

It is said that a male and a female will get together better, but in my opinion, if they are fixed, there should not be any issues. There will be issues if they are both dominant, no matter what they are. Boxers most definitely like a playmate. I have two, the boy is 8 years old and we got him a sister, and she is 8 months old. It is the best thing we could have done. The only thing I regret is that I didn't get him a sister sooner. It is a joy to watch them play - they are like two little kids that just play with their toys and go looking for trouble and fun all the time
