Question New Puppy Questions

Hello everybody. We have just brought our puppy home. She is eight weeks old. When she got home she was paper trained. The only thing is, she is doing her "business" outside when we are home. We constantly take her out when we feel that she needs to go to the bathroom. When we leave though for about five/six hours, should we put paper on the ground? Would this send mixed messages?

Are you keeping her in a crate when you are gone or is she loose? She should really be kept in a crate 1. for her safety and 2. they don't go potty where they sleep. IMO, I wouldn't put paper down for her to potty on too (along with taking her outside) because that will just confuse her as to where to go potty. I would quit putting paper down now so she doesn't go in the house anymore, otherwise she will think it's ok to go inside. Just a tip: I (and many of us here) have bells on the door I use to take my kids outside for them to ring when they have to go potty. My 8 week old has caught on to that fast.
Good Luck with you new baby!!!
