Unique Experiences!

Hey Guys,

I just pickedup Haden this past Friday, a fawn and flashy 9 week old. He's been just great. I am in my last year of school at FSU, and just moved into a 5 bedroom house with a large front and backyard, and figured it was a great place to raise a puppy (with the norm college living being an apartment, which was unpractical).

Since he has been home, we have done a wide variety of things. Within his first hour at my fraternity house he saw loads of new people, heard firecrackers going off, glass breaking, and general people shouting at a football game - and took it all in stride, as happy as can be. Yesterday was our campus's sorority bid day, so we took him to the campus fountain to see and meet 5 different groups of 50-200 crazy girls swimming and jumping in a fountain (which was a site to see!)... and then noticed an adorable puppy and came over to socialize with him. =D Then a few dips in the fountain he enjoyed greatly, afer a good romp session in the grass and bushes.

Currently, his pack consists of 5 20-something human students, 1 two year old siamese cat named Sabre, and 1 10 month old 90 pound (he's as big as a small horse!!) German Shepard named Deacon.

I know it sounds a bit overwhelming with the things I have done and taken him - but I use him as a guide to tell me if things are going too fast, as he has a strong will and lots of courage, and really hasn't shyed away from much - besides a normal small cry and hesitancy before jumping off of a ledge.

Anyways, just wondering if any of you out there had any good things to do with your dog as far as socialization, that you had any luck with.

Sounds like you are doing a great job socializing Haden (love the name btw). When I decided to get a pup I did some research on socialization and these are a few thing I remember: Take your pup to 2-3 new places each week, introduce your pup to 6 new people each week (sounds like you have that one more than covered lol) you should also look into getting Haden in a pupply class. That is a great way for pups to meet and play with other puppies. Good luck and post pics of little Haden, we love puppy pics around here. Oh, and welcome to Boxerworld

Wow, talk about a great opportunity for socializing. Heck, if that boxer is not well socialized, I can't imagine one who would be

I know my puppy LOVES new people, and the idea of all those people in a fountain for him to go nuts over, I just couldn't imagine how fast it would make his little nub shake, lol.

Boxer bashes are the best way to socialize your puppy. He gets to meet boxers and boxer owners. Check out the boxer bash forum for a group near you.
