New boxer pupy with Cats??

I will be bringing home a new puppy (6wks old) tomorrow and we have a 13 week old kitten already at home. My puppy, Saban, is already a little bigger than Buzz (the cat) right now and I know it won't take long for him to be towering over him. Any suggestions on introducing them??

I brought Cassius home at 8 weeks, but our cat is 15 years old and miserable!! Cassius is really good with the cat until she hisses, etc. Our trainer suggested taking a towel and rubbing the cat and then the dog with it. This is to be done on a daily basis. You can try this (I still have not yet tried it!) but I may have to!

Our last cat never took to Lola let alone Lola, Zeb & Casper
Think she was too old & crotchety to accept them.

We now have 2 kittens and keep bringing them down and sitting behind the stair gate with them and letting them see & smell the dogs, we also rub blankets on the cats & dogs and let the dogs smell the cats blanket & vice versa.
Zeb has met Daisy (boldest kitten) face to face and was so gentle with her
She did however hiss & try lash out at him but he didn't freak or anything so he got a treat for being calm. Casper is pretty calm too. It's Lola that's quite 'excitable' shall we say
I am hoping that they will accept each other as they are going to be housecats.

I think your prospects of them both getting on are good as your dog is a pup.

Thanks for the replies. Its now been three weeks since we brought Saban home and him and Buzz the cat are best friends. They run, play, and gentley wrestle together. Its so cute. Them both being so young when they met definately was a good thing.
