Wellness puppy?

How many of you feed your little ones this food? Cali is on Grandma Z's from a local company called Zamzow's and her poop is always runny. I was thinking of changing her to Wellness...

Wellness is very good food, it wouldn't hurt to switch and see how she does on it Just make sure the switch is gradual or she'll end up with an upset tummy.

Nutro Max

I had good results from Nutro Max Large Breed Puppy Controlled Growth Formula. I had some bad results from buying the high priced stuff because it had too many nutrients for Bailey. Many people argue the higher protien higher nutrient dog food is best but I found Nutro Max kept Bailey from shedding and didn't cause her any leg discomfort. The below link is one of the possible disorders related to the super high quality food.

cache:...lnk - Google Search

I did go to the vet when bailey had her leg discomfort(trouble walking) and he said everything was fine and the only thing we could find to explain it was HOD. Just something to consider when you see the huge pricetag on some of the dog food people promote.

Wellness is a good company and a quality food. With that said, there's no "one size fits all" when it comes to food. So there may be some trial and error. On the plus side, there are TONS of premium foods out there so if the Wellness doesn't work out you can try something else. They also all have 100% satisfaction guarantees so if they don't work out you can return them for a refund and you won't be out anything.

Also as a side note, I am not one to promote the high protein foods, however there is a happy medium between the high protein foods and Nutro. I would highly NOT recommend Nutro for a variety of reasons, one being it's poor quality ingredients. You can have high quality ingredients without a high protein, fat, etc content that doesn't bother their tummy but is healthier.

Good luck in finding something and let us know if the Wellness works out!

Bentley's breeder had him on Iam's and he had horrible diarrhea even after we got the Coccidia cleared up. The last week and a half, he has been on nothing but Wellness for puppy's and is doing fantastic! His poop is normal! YAY!
Good luck in whatever you decide.

We've had Ripley on Wellness Super5 Mix Puppy. We gradually switched him from ProPlan (yuck). He has been doing great on it. His stools are always firm and his coat looks great. As a matter of fact, on Saturday the vet commented on how great his skin looked. I would highly recommend it, but there is no guarantee that it will work as well for your pup, since they are all different. I would give it a try, and if it doesn't work out, then you can always return it.

Hope it works out for you!

Do you have a recommendation? We have been feeding Wellness and switched from puppy to adult when Millie was diagnosed with JRD so that she would have a little less protein. I was just wondering if maybe you could suggest a quality food that has less protein than Wellness since her kidneys already aren't functioning properly and that might be better for her.

Natural Balance limited ingredient line is all grain free and protein is in the low 20's and fat is like 10% I believe (this is what I feed my dog who is allergic to grains). Canidae makes a grain free version now that was in the low to mid 20's on protein. Taste of the Wild I believe was in the high 20's on one of their formulas and they're also grain free. Those are the 3 I can think of off the top of my head.

Or you can simply go with a good quality food that has grains, Chicken Soup, Innova, Natural Balance, Solid Gold, regular Wellness, all good foods and companies with lower protein amounts but do have grains.

Good luck.

We switched Lucy to Wellness Puppy shortly after she came home to us. She went from very runny stools to nice and normal. I do mix a tsp of the wellness wet in with her dry. Her coat looks great and she is growing very well, very happy with this!
