Question Loost stools constantly

Cali is 10 weeks old. The family I got her from fed all the puppies some Purina puppy crap. I am choosing to feed her a brand local to our area called Grandma Z's..It has no wheat or corn and chicken meal is the 1st ingredient. I have been mixing the old and new but am almost out of the Purina so I decided a couple days ago to just do the new food 4x per day about 3/4 cup each time. Her stools are runny blobs. How much longer do you think it will be until her tummy is used to the new stuff and her poop will start to look like poop? Nothing like poop blobs to try and clean up in the grass. Thanks!

*Sorry about spelling Loose incorrectly*

I don't know anything about Grandma Z's but I do know that http://dogfoodanalysis.com/ is an excellent source of information regarding dog food.

No matter what you decide to feed, be sure to feed only the recommended amount. Too much food, and treats will result in loose stools.

You may be overfeeding her which is causing the runny stools. Looking on their website, it appears a pup that age (not sure of your pups weight), should only be fed around 2 to 2 1/2 cups. You are feeding 3 cups per day. I would back off on the amount and feed 21/4 to 2 1/2 total per day. You can continue to feed 4 times a day, or you can feed three times a day. I only fed mine 3 times a day until 6 months, then went to twice a day. But if your comfortable with 4, no problem. If you start with 2 1/4 cups a day and feel that is not enough, then you can increase it a bit to 2 1/2. Try that and see if it helps. It may take up to a month to get the tummy used to the new food also.

Yep, overfeeding would be my first guess. I'd imagine the brand you're feeding now is of better quality than Purina, so she may be getting a bit of a nutrient "overload" and you're seeing it in the form of loose poop. Try cutting back the amount you feed her and see if you notice anything.

Since its a new puppy you're talking about, you might want to have her checked by a vet - and take a stool sample with you (thinking particularly about the possibility of coccidia, which is a protozoa that frequently infects puppies, and causes diarrhoea). If that's her problem, it isn't food that is the cause or solution, but she would need medical treatment. Some info on that via this veterinary link: Coccidia (Coccidiosis) in Dogs: A Cause of Diarrhea

I had almost the same problem with my Candy... but thanks to RAW... the results are immediate... Just get some RAW chicken from the butcher... skin and all... cut into medium pieces and give... See the diiference... and ya... dont forget to give her some liver / kidney once in a while... Chicken necks should be good.
