Vitamin C ingredients safe?

I didn't mean to start another thread, but the last one about vitamin C was closed. Does it close automatically if there's no replies in 30 days or something?

There was a reply to be careful on the vitamin C as artificial sweeteners can be toxic. Well
the vitamin C I've been giving Roxy is Nature Made Chewable Vitamin C, 500mg Tablets and the ingredients are below. I just want to make sure I'm not giving her something for months that's bad for her

Ingredients:
Sugar, Sodium Ascorbate, Ascorbic Acid, Fructose, Stearic Acid, Dextrose, Maltodextrin, Corn Starch, Magnesium Stearate, Natural Orange Flavors with Other Natural Flavors, Silica Gel, Lemon Bioflavonoids, Lactose (Milk).

Exactly

I don't believe any of those ingredients are harmful to dogs. However, the sugar and cornstarch are not really good for them. Maybe non-chewable pills would be more ideal for dogs to take.

What exactly is the reason for giving her vitamin C? Forgive me if you've said this already, I didn't catch the other thread.

Well she has red manage and I was giving it to her to boast her immune system for one thing.
My vet or I should say my old vet said that there was also a study that Hip Dysplasia can possibly be prevented in dogs that are younger than 2 years of age if given vitamin C everyday. He did say that the majority is genetics and or over weight dogs as well, but said there was a study out on Hip Dysplasia and the effects of vitamin C. Since Roxy has a low immune system and is kind of sick from the manage it's the main reason I was giving it to her and possibility of preventing Hip Dysplasia was just an added bonus.
I don't remember his long explanation, but he said that the vitmain C effects collagen, which effects Hip Dysplasia. I figured how could vitamin C hurt Roxy even if study was not correct or it's a myth, I figured with her manage I should give it to her anyway.

There are many variations of Vitamin C available. What you are giving has too many "other" non-needed things in it.
Sugar, fructose and corn starch to start.
My girls Vitamin C contains:
Each Natural Wafer Contains: Vitamin C 500mg, Citrus Bioflavonoids 50mg

There probably isn't enough additional items not needed to cause harm but if you can avoid as much "bad" as possible then why not? JMO!

I kept seeing vitamin C with Rose Hips or Bioflavonoids, but wasn't sure it was needed for dogs or actually what they are for as in giving them it everyday. I just read Bioflavonoids was shown to aid in diarrhea in some kids. I guess rose hips is similar
"rose hips contain bioflavonoids that promote the vitamin's absorption and enhance its antioxidant potency. "

I have read that Ester-C with bioflavanoids is great for dogs. Not sure about the rose hips.

Ester C is definitely the best form of vitamin to give as it is easier on the system. It's also available in a powder so it is easy to feed.

I gave Ester C to my dog during two bouts of Kennel Cough and it worked just fine for him and my foster. They also sell it at Costco so it was a decent price.

Is Ester C a brand or a type of vitamin C? I see American Health Ester C, but I thought Ester was actually a brand?
