fish oil with vitamin E

I've been giving my puppy fish oil and vitamin E, even though the fish oil already indicates it has vitamin E already some indicated it wasn't enough, so essentially I have been giving her extra vitamin E.

Well a friend of mine told me he's been getting all of his vitamins for himself and his dogs from swanson
Swanson EFAs MultiOmega 3-6-9 (Flax, Borage, Fish) 240 Sgels - Swanson Health Products

It says it's 20 IU in vitamin E from this website, which is exactly what the bottle has
Determining Dog Nutritional Supplement Rations

Just want to make sure I'm better offf with this one when I run out instead of the two separate bottles. Giving her too much vitamin E is what is really making me nervous from all my reading about how unhealthy it can be.

My female has been taking 400 IU of vitamin E daily for 3 years now and is just fine (and receives a FULL blood panel every 3 months so if there was a problem we'd absolutely know about it), my male has been receiving the same for over 2 years (since he was 3 months old and he's now 2 years and 2 months old) and also is just fine and had a full blood panel before he had surgery less than a year ago and nothing weird showed up. Both of my dogs are extremely healthy minus genetic defects, my vet constantly comments on how great their coats are and how well my dogs do despite having major medical problems (having nothing to do with Vitamin E).

I also personally take 400 IU of vitamin E 3 times a week at the request of my medical doctor and I am just fine as well.

I think you are jsut fine. Yes it is a fat soluable vitamin, however the 400 IU is just fine.

Also I woudl not give that all in one capsule you linked to as I do not recommend giving additional flaxseed also not enough fish oil in it IMO unless you were to give like 6-7 capsules per day which just seems wasteful.

I'm not necessarily saying I'm right, but when my female is getting better from her immune related illness and I have my boy's alllergies 100% under control, both are at healthy weights, have blood panels that are great, have great coats, play, etc then I would say that they aren't being harmed anyway with our regimine.

The problem I'm having is that some dog food I can see vitamin E is being added and I can see from kirland's fish oil that vitamin E is also added, how much I don't know. Then for me to add additional vitamin E does make me nervous when I start to read all the bad things for US to take too much vitamin E and also pets. Just googling for a second has so many results.

Most vitamin E in the food is worthless...it's a VERY minimal amount to the point of not being enough to speak of. Secondly I also use Kirkland Fish Oil, for myself and my dogs, again it isn't enough to make any bit of difference. Yes, I've read the research, but you know what I am the first to do research but also the first to say I did not go to vet school nor medical school and when I have more than one human doctor (one of which specializes in alternative medicine and is licensed for such) telling me to take it 3 times a week, as well as my regular vet, internal medicine specialist vet, homeopathic vet, and chinese herbalist vet all saying to give it to my dogs daily as well, that's enough EXPERT opinions IMO and I tend to throw the google crap out the window and listen to the medical professionals in this instance.

Trust me, if you google darn near anything you wouldn't want to take it, eat it, breathe it, etc. Sometimes there is such thing as too much research.

I remember you saying that the Vitamin E is worthless in dog food, but I was just looking at the contents of the dog food I bought and it says it has Vitamin E min. 500 IU/kg, which seems like it's something. It's wellness core ocean:

Guaranteed Analysis:
Crude Protein min. 34%, Crude Fat min. 14%, Crude Fiber max. 7%, Moisture max. 10%, Calcium max. 2.1%, Phosphorus max. 1.5%, Vitamin E min. 500 IU/kg, Omega 6 Fatty Acids* min. 2.00%, Omega 3 Fatty Acids* min. 0.80%, Glucosamin Hydrochloride* min. 250 mg/kg, Chondroitin Sulfate min. 200 mg/kg, Total Micro-organisms* min. 80,000,000 CFU/lb.

But it's cooked. Most of the benefits of it are destroyed by processing.
