Well, a small amount isn't going to kill anyone

But if you feed it regularly, it would be better to pick a small type of oily fish (sardines are perfect - mackeral pretty good also). The problem with tuna is just that it's a very large fish, and has very high levels of mercury. Even people, with much higher body mass, are advised to limit intake of big fish like tuna. Dogs are smaller, and more affected by the metal (cats even more so, btw). So its really a good idea only to give very small amounts of tuna - a treat now and then isn't going to harm anyone. But if its more often, it's a better idea to swap to smaller types of fish (which don't live as long or as deep and have far less mercury buildup). Actually - sardines are also usually cheaper, so it's really a win-win situation.
