The morning routine

In the early morning hours, we slowly walk down the stairs.
Bonnie and Chester on the couch, and Clydie on the chair.

Chester is still covered with the blanket from last night.
Daddy keeps his baby warm, he tucked him in for the night.

They slowly wake and stretch with the back legs still on the chair
They are ready to start playing, but they don’t even dare.

Mommy needs her coffee and daddy takes a shower
The babies are outside, peeing on the flowers.

Next breakfast time comes, Clyde won’t let us forget
Three big bowls of kibble, they haven’t missed one yet.

Chester is the last one to finish, he’s lucky he got to eat
Bonnie and Clyde try to steal his food, for that they miss their treat.

It’s time to go out again, to do that one last chore
Before mom and dad put us in our room and close that big wood door

They come in from the yard and go back to lay down
The lazy mutts go back to sleep and mom and daddy frown.

We wish we could sleep with them and hug them throughout the day
We don’t know why we go to work, when we could stay home and play

But we need to be off to work; it’s time to meet the day
We must keep kibble on the table and bones and toys for play.

Great poem!! It does sound like my mornings with only one boxer

Sounds like my routine with my three. The only difference is that I do not have to go to work anymore. I am retired. When they come in they get on the couch and we snuggle. Great Poem. Mine get covered at night with their blankets too.

Excellent poem! I had a Collie once, and she did the exact same routine, get up from her bed, go outside, pee in my garden this brought back some really funny memories! Thanks a million
